A to Z Learning Tree

A Preschool That Teaches All the Skills From A To Z

Typical Preschool Day

Below is a typical day.  Sometimes the weather decides our schedule more then other days.  If bad weather is predicted for our normal outside time we may start with outside time and do stations during the scheduled outside time.  All times are dependent upon the group needs and are  subject to change without notice.

9:00 arrival -  Children find learning area to play in, these include but are not limited to puzzles, blocks and building materials, science and math stations, art, dramatic play, musical instruments, sensory table, theme unit items, writing center and reading corner.  Children are taught HOW to play with the items they are interested.  Sometimes I will dictate what they play with, sometimes they will choose.

9:30 lesson time - We start with calendar where patterns, number recognition and counting, days of the week, date, month, year, plus yesterday, today and tomorrow are all worked on.  After calendar we will read a theme related book (or two or three!) and do a theme related learning activity.  Lastly we follow up with an art project.  Sometimes art is NOT taken home the same day.  Daily summaries of what was done will be emailed or sent home with the student. There is a face book page that parents only are invited to join after enrollment where pictures are posted often.

10:00 outside or inside free play - During free play time the children work on many skills.  What they play with determines the benefit level of the play therefore sometimes the play is directed or items played with are controlled.  Social skills are learned and practiced at this time.  This is also a time when the teacher may work one on one with students who need  skill work (either because they are advanced or behind).

11:00 departure - children will watch for their car to pull up.  Please do not pull into driveway but stay in the cul de sac for your child to come out.  ALL children must be in appropriate child safety seats.
